Shingle cove is one of the best places in Antarctica to see Adelie penguins. They are often seen resting on the icebergs in the bay next to the huge penguin rookery. Here they are safe from their worst enemy - the Leopard seal. It is a great opportunity for a photographer to get some photos of penguins on an iceberg.
Adelie penguins are mid-sized, being 46 to 75 cm (18 to 30 in) in length and 3.9 to 5.8 kg (8.6 to 12.8 lbs) in weight.
